3 Tips For Creating Great Content For Social Media+Web Pages

Going on a trip as a travel pro is a great opportunity to create travel content for your website and social media pages. Here are three things you can do on your trip to create content your consumers will love.

Take Photos

Throughout your trip, take photos featuring one or more person and write captions for each photo. Sharing your own photos of a destination or hotel will add to your credibility as a travel agent.

According to a 2014 research study from Georgia Tech, photos with human faces are 38% more likely to receive likes on Instagram than photos without faces. That’s one of the many reasons why we recommend being in your travel photos.

It’s also important to be aware of the background in your photos and videos. If you are in a public space, it’s probably okay if there are other people in the background. However, try to not show their faces, especially if they are children. Many countries have photography laws. Make sure you look them up before your trip. Your images should also be free of outside brand logos.

You don’t have to be a professional photographer to take amazing travel photos. Here are 10 tips on creating better travel photos.

Record Videos

Whether you’re going live on social media or recording a video for your website, Fam trips are a great opportunity to record original video content.

Remember to introduce yourself in each video, say where you are, show your environment, and talk about what you’re experiencing on your trip.

Before you begin recording, make sure the lighting looks good on camera, and test your microphone to make sure viewers can hear you. Read this for more tips on recording videos for social media.

Here are some questions to ask yourself before recording:

  • What is unique about your location?
  • Did anything surprise or delight you?
  • How have your experiences made you feel?
  • What are you looking forward to?
  • What was your favorite part of your trip?

When filming your videos, like your photos, you should try not to show other people or brands in the background.

Write An Article

If you have time on your trip, write a blog article about your destination(s), experiences, or recommendations.

If you’re writing for your website, your article should be about 1,500 words or longer. When it comes to posting an article on the internet, article length matters. Posts with an average read time of 7 minutes capture the most attention, which equates to about 1,500-2,500 words.

However, the article content is more important than the word count. Your article should be long enough to tell a story and give the reader thorough information.

Here are some article topic ideas:

  • Things to do
  • What not to do
  • Where to eat
  • All about the destination
  • Packing guide
  • Your experiences
